Is there any noticeable heat coming from the palmrest of the d630?

I've owned a couple of notebooks where just the small temp increase from the left to right side made my right palm actually sweat. No correlation to size either. 13.3" i had was cool, then a 14.1 with same processor HOT.

Anyways, d630 owners, I'd appreciate it if you'd vote whether you notice any heat from your palm rest.

Also advice on configuration options that might help or hinder. OBviously going with slowest processor they offer in this one (T7100), but would skipping the 7200rpm drive help in the heat dept? What about one wifi option over another (my wifi is always on)?

(if you do vote i detect heat, then pls tell me your configuration)

Nope, no heat from the palmrest area. the only heat that I've noticed is at the docking connectors on the bottom. It's because I keep my D630 docked for a long time.

Other than that, no heat sir. And btw, if you haven't heard, Polls are not in style.

A lot of people vote when they don't even own the system to make it look bad

and as you can guess, most of them are apple and sony fanboys.

It seems moderately cooler than the D620, which would get somewhat warm.

I can feel some heat from the palmrest areas, but it is not very significant and I am able to sit the laptop on my lap during work.

yeah, that's the same I'm getting mtor, no heat from the palmrest, but on the bottom rear at the dock connector, i'm getting heat. Fine for me.

I did actually feel a hint of warmth yesterday, but it was on the LEFT side palmrest not the right. and nothing major at all.

Motor & Ed- do you guys also have processors > 2GHz, dedicated graphics, fastest drives etc? I know that downgrading any of those components alone probably won't make a difference, but hoping altogether they help somewhat.

Of course, I could always bite the size bullet and make it an 830. Extra space would cool things off- and give me a uxga squintscreen option.

(hey they just dropped the prices on 630&830 again today btw- $50 less than what they were this morning... probably getcha somewhere else, fineprint style).

I hate when they do that!

the processor and video card choices wont affect the palm rest - they're closer to the hinges, underneath the keyboard. the left palmrest gets SLIGHTLY warm as that has the hard drive underneath. the heat output is so slight with a 5400rpm drive that i doubt a 7200rpm drive will make much difference. on the right is the battery, which will only get warm as its charging. even then, you will hardly notice. the thermal design of this notebook is really top notch.
