I installed a new harddrive, formatted and installed XP Pro. Initially the USB devices worked. I had heard that it was really important that I install the chipset driver first. As soon as I install the chipset driver though, none of my USB devices are detected anymore. Since the rest of the drivers I was going to use were on one of the USB drives I had plugged in, and since I dont have a wireless connection around, I tried plugging in the cat-5 cable connected to my modem (the one I use on my desktop to connect to the internet) and I cant connect to the internet. Can someone please tell me how important the chipset driver is, why it disables my USB drives, how I can go about getting my USB drives to work again, and which driver I should install to get access to wired internet?
