It is unlikely there will be significant changes to the current M1330 line until Montevina refresh. If you need a laptop immediately, purchase now - there's nothing much you can do about the current heat problems. If you can wait, look for refresh of the XPS line ~September or October. The new Latitude line is released at this point, so they may wait a little longer to not cannibalize sales.

My 1330 with the Penryn chip runs cool. I don't use a notebook cooler at all like I do with my m1210.

My only complaint is the vibration I feel from it..
    but it's great!

funny that you say that...i am currently using a m1210 also haha...i love it...its been a great laptop to me. i am passing it to my girlfriend and upgrading to either a 13" macbook or the dell m1330...

i want the graphic card so it looks like its gonna be the m1330...however...i am worried like heck about the overheating problem and motherboard issues and i guess the bad screens too...

    *sigh*...

i thought i was just gonna place my order and be done with it but i'm not sure now...

Stop over thinking it and just do it. You will be happy.
