A freind has used Inspiron 1100 and its warranty expires after 8 months. He agreed to sell it for US$650 (monthly payments of $100)
I will be using the laptop for internet serfing and m$ office and photoshop when away from the desktop
So do you guys think I got a good deal on the Inspiron 1100 and I should buy it? or I should wait for another M6809 rebate and buy it At that time?
Specifications:
Intel celeron 2.3
256mb ram
20gb hd
dvd/cd-rw
14" monitor
How can I make sure it is not refurbished?
Thanks for your advice

I would say, that's not a very good deal, for a little bit more money, you can get a brand new Inspiron 1150 with a Pentium 4 procesor that is faster, bigger hard drive, etc.
I would suggest not buying it. But that's just my opinion. -
I am in agreeance with Nesbo. That sounds about 200 too much for that model used. I would either go for a new one, as suggested above, or ask your friend to come down at least 100 so that neither of you are getting ripped off.

Thank you guys for your replies
I told the owner (my friend) that I am giving back the laptop tomorrow because the price is high and the graphic card is useless for most of the games. if he agreed to sell it at $500 I may consider it, but I am not so sure
I may wait some time for emachines M6809 rebate or may buy the M6805
By the way, what is the different between M6805 and M6809 except the cpu and hard disk size?? -
I dont know too much about eMachines as after seeing more than a few faulty desktops, they have garnered a bad taste in my mouth. But I know from investor reports that quality has gone up. I dont know how much, but there is a large difference in an eMachine and a Dell.
If you are looking to spend between 500 and 900 (which what it seems that you are) then take another look at the newer Dell Inspiron models. They will be able to do what you want to do with a laptop, as well as you will have the normally great Dell support services.
