A few months ago i began looking at the inspiron e1505. Then recently I changed my mind to the M1210 mainly because of its looks and features until today when I went to Best buy to look at laptops and was terribly suprised about how small 12' realy is. So now im back to the E1505. I was going to order it today untill I became aware that Duo2 might be realeased later this week! (I thought it was coming out in a few months) Some say the 27th, (thursday) and thats also wen the coupons come out (wich I need to use). With the high number of people waiting for Duo2 and coupons do you think they will they be gone realy quick? Should I wait till thurs to do this? I realy dont know what to do it seems a little risky. Please help

keep in mind that the jump from core duo to core 2 duo is not as big as the jump between core solo and the core duo. Of course the core 2 duo will be faster, but only marginally compared to a solo vs duo. The next jump to quad core duo would be reason to wait, but that is several months (a year?) off. So even if core 2 duos are released to conincide with the back to school computer season, that will only lower the prices of the core duo and save you money.

This waiting things will never be over for eg if you wait for core 2 duo there will be rumor about quad core and DX10 graphic
so my advice is if you found the deal you think is right for you go for it ;)
if you wanna wait then keep waiting

Definitely agree with this, but there are usually six to eight month gaps where the market goes into a lull. Unfortunately, the following few weeks does not fall into this category. So people who are going to get their machine(s) today or tomorrow, so to speak, are missing out on a decent leap forward in technology at the same cost, or ~10% more...

Core 2 wont be avalable from dealers like Dell for another few months. You could buy the processors its self before you could buy a system with one in it. Like El-Prodigy said, dont keep waiting for the next thing or else you'll never buy anything. There will always be something new just over the hill so buy whats best for you now and forget about whats coming in 6 months.

I ordered my 1210, and then went to best buy and took a look at some 12' notebooks. I said the same thing you did, I thought I was going to be able to fit it in my pocket. But when I got my 1210 I was pleasently suprised. The screen is alot bigger than I thought after seeing some of the non-widescreen 12' as BB. I think its a perfect notebook screen size, and its really really sharp. If the only thing holding you back from getting the 1210 is the screen, its OK. I game alot on it and its fine. HL2 and Oblivion look great on this screen.

Yes you can "play" oblivion on the 7400
using X1400 on 1280x800 n med setting I only get about 12 fps so it isn't "smooth" at all :(
because of this I doubt that I could play any future decent games

Which Core 2's? The Merom and Conroe should be available very soon, possibly this week.

would you guys recomend I stay with the M1210 then? I play FS04 and do alot of music and movies. I just think its somewhat small. I heard it "looks" biger than 12' so is it that far behind looking and feeling 14' notebook?

After a while, you'll probably get used to the smaller size. If you are considering notebooks other than Dell and have ~$1,300 to spend, the Compal HGL30 is worth a look (see the Compal forum here) - 14" with a 256MB ded. Go7600.
