delayed, but is there any chance it could still come sooner than dell's predicted date?

i'll be leaving for ohio state on the 25th, but dell delayed my order which was supposed to ship on the 17th to the 28th. however, after calling them they did change my shipping to 1 day shipping for free. is there still a chance i could receive my 1420 before i leave? i heard both good and bad stories with dell's shipping, so i'm hoping i can still get lucky. thanks!

Well, if it is going to ship on the 28th then you'll see it no earlier than the 29th even with one day shipping.

It is always possible, but I'd say do this:
Wait until the weekend before classes start. If you have not gotten the laptop by then, cancel the order and buy a pre-configured laptop in a brick and mortar store like Best Buy. Just get the manufacturer warranty (BB, CC, etc) and not the store warranty (cause they are crap service plans).

 

I ordered one on the 7th, and estimated ship date was the 28th. I got the laptop yesterday. There's hope for a speedy process.

I ordered on July 11, and estimated ship date was August 31. Was Shipped on August 1...

 

I ordered a white inspiron1420 (stages on my sig) I'm gonna get it by the latest next week on monday...a whole week before the Estimated date.

 

Did you ask them to give you free shipping?

I too am delayed and I called them, they didn't offer anything :/

 

What I did was be nice to them, and said "is there anyway to speed the order up cause I really need it for school, and hes like Il up your shipping to 1 day for free.

 

the person offered it to me because i used the college excuse too. i spoke calmly, which is probably a change of pace for them seeing how they mostly deal with pissed off customers.

 

by the way, just to let anyone else know who's waiting for their 1420 to shipthat all colors are delayed except for black. apparently, they have no idea when the colors will be back in stock.
