    i am work on a inspiron it will not start up when i have the hard drive , cd drive, and battery in the computer but when every thing is out i start up just fine until it can't find anything to boot up does anyone know what my problem is i have tried a different hard drive but i still get the something

    the labtop is inpiron 1150 i have other labtop i put the hardrive in and it work fine the cd drive work too when i put it in the other labtop so it has to be something with the mother broad in the power supply

    I would try another AC adapter first before saying it's the motherboard. Have you tried that?

    Well if you take everything out and can still boot, that means your AC power adapter works fine. Does it power on with just the battery and no HD or optical drive?

    right now it does not want to boot at all with everything out or with everything in

    Motherboard could be failing, or it could be something like a CMOS battery problem. Is there any beeping on boot up? How old is the notebook?
