What is the problem at the moment?

You need a SIM card, an appropriate WWAN card, and a service contract for this to work?

I have added this feature to my Studio 1558 and it works very well.

you will need to check if you have the aerial wires for the wwan card , Mine didnt come with any and I am 90% sure they are not in the 1558 as standard as it is an optional extra .

Parts you will need to source for the mod

Dell 5530 or 5540 WWan card , I got the 5530 of ebay for £22.00 posted.

Dell Black chain link cover part code W855P as this cover has all the optional aerial wires in them . again I got mine of ebay new for £35.00 posted.

    A mobile broadband sim

    Dell 5530/5540 Drivers , ( Dell website )
Dell mobile broadband manager (Dell website)

do we use the embedded SIM card behind the battery without WWAN card?

The Sim card slot behind the battery is where you put the sim card and is just the connection to the motherboard. you still need a wwan card to use the sim card .

    that's right...
you can also check if the wwan is inbuit in your dell 1558 (if you ordered during configuring). Otherwise external wwan card is required.
