Dell does not whitelist WLAN cards so any mini PCI-E WLAN card will work. If you don't need the latest or greatest the 5300/5100AGN are good bets.

I'm gonna go with the 5300. Seems like it will work ALOT better than what I have now.

<---------- Is a computer noob, but i'm trying to learn all i can. Hopefully i can stay around here so i can learn some stuff from you guys.

I've taken apart so many 15R, the WLAN card is underneath the palmrest which requires all the screws on the bottom, getting a flathead and prying off the keyboard, 5 screws on the palmrest and then the connectors and the palmrest comes off.

Or you can visit your friendly Dell service manual @ support.dell.com and punch in your service tag.

That's why we have forums here. ;)

Yes that would work but holy cow that is overpriced from Dell.

New Intel 5300 AGN half size wireless Mini PCI-E Card | eBay

You can get them on Ebay for ~20 dollars. In all honesty there isn't a huge difference jumping to the 6x00 series. My Wifi Link 5100AGN is stable and fast in my Latitude 13.

What about the two antennas? Doesn't the 15r have 3 antennas?

Most 14/15R systems I have seen come with the standard 2 antenna leads; one black, one white. The service manual shows 2 as well.

Ok, I bought the 5300. It says it has 3 antenna holes(connectors places) in the card. Will it be alright if i leave the 3rd hole empty?

Yes you will be fine. You might be able to buy the 3rd antenna bundle if you have the Dell P/N.
