I liked the 600m until i found that it has no firewire 1394. the 510m does. How do these 2 compare in terms of appearance / weight? the 510m seems a bit cheaper. One thing with 510m is that it only has integrated graphics (Intel Extreme 2), whilst the 600m has ati 9000.

I have never used onboard graphics on laptops before. How does the 3d (games: Q3,CS,WC3) performance compare? (alot worse/ worse/ slightly worse)? If you were to put it on level with the Geforce series, would it give performance similar to: (GF1,2,3,4,5?).

    Thanks,
    Jackie

    Jackie,

Excuse my ignorance, I'm a bit US Centric, which country are you in and where are you seeing a Dell 510m? I only know of the 600m. The integrated graphics is not great news by any means, but if you have enough RAM installed along with a good processor in your laptop and the graphics processor is decent enough then you can still play your 3D games and get good (not great) performance.

I'd have to see the specs for the 500m further to make any more detailed statement, I'm just not sure how grpahics would compare to a GeForce equipped machine.

the 510 is selled on asia and europe only. and it has almost the same specs than the d505. diference is that on the 510m the screen goes up to 1400x1050 (sxga+)...and that's almost all
