i am a power user mainly doing programming and occaisonal graphic manipulation. i do not plan on doing much gaming, and sometimes i would watch movies in a smaller window while doing some work.

any recommendation on 32 vs 64 meg video card for the 5150?

i would be getting the 3.06 ghz, 15" sxga+ with 1 gig ram. i am leaning towards the simply 32 and would like to see if going for the 64 for an extra 80 bucks is worth it?

    thanks.

hey there, watching movies is not as greatly affected buy video ram as some would lead you to believe, the more powerful graphics card is really only more helpful for special/intensive graphics manipulations that are more common in games and high-end multimedia apps. you'd be safe saving yourself money in your situation, unless you want to spend the extra $80 just so you have the extra ram if you need it (remember you can't upgrade video cards on a notebook so if you find it was a mistake to configure low then...time to buy a new notebook!)

Personally, I think you should get the 64 MB RAM, just because you never know when you might need it.

Just to clarify Abaxter, with Dell, you can actually upgrade the 5150 to a 64 MB video card if choose to do so later, but this can void your warranty if something goes wrong since it's not sanctioned by Dell.
