Hi ,does a Dell 5150 isporon have a mother board battery, I have to keep resetting clock and date when starting up, I just had the motherboard replaced.

It does have a CMOS battery, but I believe it's soldered to the motherboard as Dell does not give directions on how to replace it. There's an extra being sold on eBay, but you're going to have to remove your motherboard and be good with a soldering iron (probably) to replace it.

Why would they solder a battery to the motherboard? In my Studio 1535, it's just a regular flat button-cell battery that pops out with a bit of encouragement from a small flathead screwdriver, or long fingernails.

Beats me. Cost cutting I suppose. Or they'd rather have you replace the computer than the CMOS battery when the battery dies. On most laptops it's indeed as you say: removable/replaceable.
