Is is it possible to connect a Dell 700 to an external monitor ? If so, what are the toggle keys ? Have to extract some data from one of my friend's dell 700. It's LCD screen is out. Need extract the data out before it goes to the service center for repairs. I am trying to do it the easiest way. Or else, will have to take the drive out to extract the data

    Thanks,

    BGeo

the 700m should have a VGA port on the left side of the notebook. i think on the Dell machines Fn+F8 is the toggle for the display mode. try plugging in an external monitor first and see what happens.

Fn+F8 is indeed the toggle key. However, if you have the lid on the laptop closed and an external monitor plugged in, the laptop should automatically default to displaying on the external.
