ok so my warranty for my 1520 expired a couple of months ago and so i went online to purchase a new one year warranty for my lappy. unfortunately when i clicked on the "extend and upgrade warranty" link, it sent me to a page that does not work... the page said they are experiencing technical problems or performing a maintenance and they say to call them instead. (i found this weird because this page for extending warranty has been down for 3-4 months!!! yes i've try to purchase the warranty before and page has been down even then.)
the thing is that i don't trust purchasing from dell on the phone because they don't send you the conversation so i went online to chat instead because a chat log gets emailed to you or you can save the log yourself. first i spoke to a sales rep, and she told me that the one year warranty extension was $150, then another rep told me it was 179$ for one year..... then i puzzled by the price and was transferred to a warranty rep and she told me it was 181$!!!! for one year basic warranty. (maybe they took down the warranty extension page so that you can't see the prices yourself and they way they can BULL YOU in spending money.)
OK so after all that i was still pissed at the different prices and was once again transferred to tech support guy (lol tech support) for the warranty extension. HE TOLD ME IT WAS 130$ FOR ONE YEAR EXTENSION, so i said ok.
so after all this bs i am quite concerned and SO MY REAL QUESTION IS that since i gave him my credit card info online through chat, is he trustable? can he commit credit fraud easily? is DELL IS TRUSTABLE? have anyone ever gave credit card info to dell through online chat? please tell me cause after all this idk how reliable dell is

Dont worry, as long as you gave it to dell it will be safe. But given the online fraud/worms/virus around there is no certainty that a google ad or any other ad might pose as chatters, its truly tough to know, but i guess as long as you did it safely you should be fine. Thats why usually i use "shopsafe" in bank of america, or you can also look for virtual credit cards or single use credit cards. So all i do is log into bank of america, click on "shopsafe" . that opens a flash window, and it asks for the max amount and months to expire, it will generate a credit card for the limit. I use that in sites i dont know and trust fully. I use my normal card on amazon, paypal/ebay though, since i have been using them and i know those sites well and i trust them.

You should be able to get them to add the warranty and then they can add the cost to your Dell account, which you can then pay via a multitude of methods, even good old fashioned cheque I believe. You have 30 days to pay, during which time I'm not sure if you'd be covered by the extended warranty.
However, I've always just paid over the web and never encountered any fraudulent activity with my cards (touch wood).
dell and credit card fraud?
