when configing a notebook at dell, there is an option for:
Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™ HD Software Edition
Did anyone have this upgrade? Is it just extra software? Does it make the sound a bit better?

Some say the sound is improved, others say nothing changes. The bottom line is that this is a software upgrade, and consumes multiple processes to run.

I actually just uninstalled it from my m1210 to see if it would improve the extremely tinny speaker sound. It sounds much better without the audigy software. If you decide to buy it, try it both with and without it as I did to see which suits you

IMO, I tested my speakers against one of my friends' XPS M1710 (which basically has the same speaker system and had the Soundblaster software) and there was virtually no difference between the sound quality of my notebook and his. He did have the ability to change the audio levels, and such, but I don't think you'll see much of a difference unless you're using your notebook all the time with external speakers, and even then, its still software.

It wasn't much improvement, but it definitely sounded much better with the Audigy.
