I expect the sales will get better, but don't take my word for it.

i think this is probably the back to school sale. i saw the dell flyer and they were mainly advertising the inspiron and its colours for students.

besides, it's almost the middle of august. if there was another sale coming it would be too late! the shipping would place them in mid september or something, and people would say that's too late and would go out and buy one in a store. IMO!

On a somewhat related note, are there any deals for Vostros now? The $325 for Inspirons is pretty sweet, but I haven't seen anything in the Vostro area. Am I just blind?

Not much of a back to school sale if theres one month delays and people start school in about a week.

Why should someone give you a discount for going back to school if you can't even spell "school"?

What annoys me is the large discrepancy between the dell.com coupons and the dell.ca promotions. I can get the same system on dell.com for over $200 cheaper after currency exchange.

yeah, but they're usually monitors/accessories/other electronics, not laptops/desktops.
in the last couple years anyway

There are in fact deals on Vostro's check my sig. It was 414 or something off of mine when I ordered it last night. The 1400 and 1500 don't appear to have as sweet of deals as the 1700 but still not bad.

This is quite a back to school sale: a $200 hike in systems with 2GB off DDR2-667 and 160GB hard drives.

The 1420 that I customized ~2 weeks ago with my school discount is now $300 more expensive. I guess Dell decided for me. Asus or Sager. Hmmm. :p

Dell, right now, is experiencing its biggest order blitz in its history of business. It is so backed up that CSRs are actually asking some of they want to cancel there orders because of delays.

And we believe that there is going to be a 10 Daze of Deals or School Sale in the next few months....

    Nope...not likely...

If they did have this, it would actually create more bad business and a much larger customer loss than ever before.

Such a move could actually drive Dell into a corner which they might not be able to pull out of; customers will only take so much bad business practice before everyone latches on and the company's reputation is permanently damaged.

It would become the Chrysler of computing.

I'm disappointed that the prices/promotion for Dell.ca hasn't changed at all this week for the 1420. I was hoping for a better deal but I guess not. I've narrowed down my search to decided on either a Toshiba U300-NS5 or Lenovo V200.

Is the $325 coupon a good one, or are there deals just as good as this all the time? (It's my first time looking up dell coupons and I'm looking into getting the inspiron 1420). I wish I had seen the free upgrade to 2gb ram and 160 gb HD from last week earlier. Is it likely that we'll be seeing something like that again or better within the next 2 or 3 weeks?
