Hello i have come here for some help, my laptop has been delayed twice now and i am looking for some compensation since the delay is a major inconvenience because i will be leaving for school soon and then will have to go back home or get someone to bring it to me at university. So i was looking for some compensation but i don't know how to approach it, yesterday was my first day of trying. I talked to a csr on the phone and asked them about my order status after they said it had been delayed by 12-14 days again i asked the lady "does dell offer any compensation for the inconvience" and she straight out just saud no. This completley stumped me so i just said ok bye.
I want to try again but this time i need some advice, how should i approach it and what should i say. Also should i try to get credit, a free upgrade in video card, or a free printer.

you might need to call a couple of times to get a rep that is willing to help you out. i called 3 times til i got a rep that decided to "throw in " a couple of stuff because i told them " I will buy a HP unless dell offers me something that is worth my time to wait" i was on hold for a couple minutes so he could "talk to his manager" then he gave me some free upgrades.
try calling in and talking to another rep. -
if you get no where tell them you want a supervisor... see what they say make sure they know this is holding you up and you are in need of you laptop.. if you get no where with that supervisor, immediatly tell them you want escalations dept to call you back and you will be most likely cancelling and shopping elsewhere if they cant help you when they call you back.
once you ask for escalations they know you are serious but.... make sure you know how to talk to people about things like this dont get rude and dont be a push over be firm and to the point and make sure they know you are def not at all happy about the situation....i deal with manufactures every day as part of my job of owning my shop and trust me you need a slightly firm hand with them..lol.. -
AFAIK, regular CSRs are no help with compensations, supervisors, maybe but escalation dept most definitely are a big help. I never asked for anything, but was offered a few compensations when talking to escalation case managers by simply complaining about the delays, frustration and general dissatisfaction with shopping experience. It does help to stay cool and although I never managed that, I still remained polite and civil.
