Hi guys, need your help. Just bought d620 (T7200/1gb/60gb/gma 950) and i get a lot of tearing while watching video (Media Player Classic + ffdshow Aug 10 2007).

I understand that GMA 950 is ****, but i wasnt expecting that i wouldnt be even able to watch videos on my laptop! And i'm not talking about 1080p h.264 ones, just usual mpeg4.

I tried to google but couldnt really find anything directly related to my problem. So i guess maybe i'm doing something wrong?

My video driver is 6.14.10.4814. Also i have 2 adapters listed in Device Manager - is it normal?

And this tearing happens not only when i watch videos, it also happens when i simply move windows around...

Anyone? It even tears when i'm scrolling :)

Also, is it normal that bottom of the laptop is pretty hot? My last laptop was p3 mobile, so i've never had such laptops before and i dont know if it's normal.

Sounds like a drivers problem. Reinstall the drivers, and if that doesn't work it's probably a problem with the video card.

Thanks for replies, i got the latest drivers from intel website (since dell website had the same version that i had) and reinstalled them. So now i have version 6.14.10.4859.

The first difference was that i now have 3D Settings and also Overlay buttons in intel GMA950 control panel - they were absent in dell's version. Dunno why, really.

Even so, it doesnt help. I still have video tearing. But i now know when it happens - when in Media Player Classic i use VMR 7 (renderless) or VMR 9 (renderless) output modes. If i use system default it plays fine but i can't see embedded (ass, ssa) subtitles.

Anyway, i just enabled subtitles in ffdshow instead of using MPC renderless mode.

Thanks for your help :) Although it would be nice to find out why this happens.
