Remember an artical in notebookreview.com recently about dell unwilling to send their products to retail store? Well, it seems dell has found another way. Yesterday when I went to a mall in Seattle, I saw a dell direct booth. Several models of dell notebook and desktop were on display. Since I was in a hurry, I didn't talk to the staff in the booth. So I don't know if you can make on-site order or you still need to go online or call a toll-free number to order. But either way, it seems that dell has created a way to let potential customers touch their products and yet still be able to bypass the local retain stores. It is not without a cost, considering the money to rent the booth and hire staffs to run the booth. I just wonder how wide-spread this kind of dell direct booth is in US.

There's been one in North East Mall in Hurst, TX for at least the past six months. You can look at the computers they have on display, and when you go to order one, they do it through the Dell website.

There's still not many booths around the country, though. I really think they should start selling their products in stores.

I went to the Dell store in Portland about a month ago. They had not yet recieved the 9300. I was able to look at a 9200 and the salesmen said they were very similiar. It appears that the computers are hooked up to the internet but this is not the case. As you navigate the Dell website you'll see the prices are out of date, which is an indication of nothing when dealing with Dell. I confirmed with the salesmen that the computers are loaded with the Dell website, so navigating through it is very fast, but all the information is unrealiable. It's a good place to get your hands on the hardware, but that's about it.
I know things, things that could bore people to death.
