Cant remember if I had this problem with XP but with Vista when I close the lid or partially close the lid the computer either sleeps or hibernates. I have it setup to do nothing when the lid closes but when I tried to open the lid it takes a very very long time for the machine to react and give video back to the screen. Is there any fix for this. Far as I know I have the latest bios.

This might not be it, but remember there are two settings for closing the lid, one for with the power adapter plugged in, and one on battery life. You want it set to do nothing for both.

Also want to check your current Power Plan in Vista and change the settings for when the Display turns off and the HD turns off.

How many seconds would you say it takes?

The HD/CPU are probably on its sleep states.

I have all sleep and hibernation turned off. The issue is only when the lid shuts and I have both on socket power and battery power set to do nothing. Still takes a good minute to get the screen to come back on after shutting the lid. Anything else I can try?

I had the same exact issue.. Erase and install of Vista Ultimate seemed to fix me up. Maybe a re-install would do the same for you. I would say if you have a good backup go for it. It was so annoying.

    Good Luck !
