hey i ordered an e1505 with xp home, and im planning on reformatting. i want to upgrade to xp pro, and i bought a retail version. will i have any problems with installing retail xp on laptop? the only reason i am asking is because the guide on here says i need xp from dell, and i have also read about retail versions not working with certain laptops...

You can use a retail version of XP as long as you have the key to it. The key that is associated with your laptop (on the bottom of your laptop ) is only valid for the XP disc from dell.

I don't have it in the guide because some users get a bit confused by it. Again, as long as you have the key and have not exceeded the amount of uses, you'll be fine.

it should work just fine, you'll want to download the drivers you need and put them on a cd or whatnot, especially your wireless drivers if you use a wifi internet connection
