Hi need some help, i own a e1705 w/ 1gb ddr ram, 7900 gs 256mb video and other misc stuff. It is screwed up. i try and turn it on and sometimes it will and sometimes it wont at all. when it does turn on the fans go to full speed right away and then about a minute later it shuts down and wont turn on again unless you let it sit for an hour or so, then it just goes through the same thing. when it does turn on it says it turned of because of overheating, but i took it apart and cleaned all the fans and fins, and still the same. i have felt the cpu when starting and it doesnt feel warm, everything is cold before it shuts off. what could this be. reapply some different cpu paste, or does it sound like the mobo, or possibly cpu? thanks for any help.

sounds like it is over heating. it is possible the heatsink has come off of the cpu, so yes reapplying thermal paste could fix it.
