well, does anyone have this generic pnp screen? by generic, does it mean a low quality, "fake" product?

after a while of using it, it has become very unpleasant to my eyes. whites aren't very white 'cause it has all these weird type of sparkles or something. i guess this is the "grainyness"? or is this normal? i hooked my laptop up to my 27" lcd tv and whites are clearly white and the visual is way better on my tv. i booted up my hp dv1000 and though there are still some hint of sparkles or whatever, whites are much more white than it is on my dell with the generic pnp.

    any ideas?

lol no its not a generic brand.. you need to go to the hardware id screen.. then it will tell you what you have or simply check your online invoice it will tell you who made it also..

control panel, device manager, double click monitor, look for pull down menu go to hardware ids and it will give you a model number post that here... ill bet its either going to start with sec or auo if its grainy and has bad color

In Device Manager, go to Generic PnP Monitor properties, click on the Details tab, and select Hardware ID from the dropdown menu. That will tell you what monitor you have.

There is no such thing as "generic" brand.

If the whites are not wite and you can see sparkles, then you have a grainy screen.

yeah i got the whole dell care plus or whatever, next day onsite service and yadi yadi ya. i, personally, do like dell customer service. it just takes a little patience!

but yeah, they said they'll be sending a tech to replace the screen for me, at my house, of course. cheers

imo i would tell them you want another lg.. i can say your problems may be much worse if you get one of the samsung's going around right now
