So I recently received an xps m1330, 2.2 dual ghz, 3gb ram etc..and its very noisy. I've read tons and tons of posts on the matter, and feel as though the whine is inherent to the computer and a replacement wont change anything. Sooo I was looking into other computers today and I think the dell inspron 1440 would due me pretty well.

I'm wondering, has anyone read or seen any post regarding cpu whine on the 1440? I really just want a quite, smaller computer with at least an 128mb 8400gs graphics card. This seems like the best bet, but if it makes noise like the m1330 then I'll stay away.

    Thanks for any help.

I upgraded from the 640M to the 1330. it's a much better upgrade however if you want to same money then the 1440 would be fine, but will be much heavier, much thicker and not nearly as cool looking.

My 1330 make no noise, the whine issue has been blown out of proportion.
