    hi all,

i'm about to buy an inspiron 6000, but i'd like to know, if someone can tell me something about the fan noise of this machine?
i heard that the sonoma notebooks have worse fan behaviour than the older centrino machines. is this correct?
    i need a very quiet machine, since i'm a musician ...

    thanks ... tim

well, even when the fan kicks in, its not even that loud (compared to a desktop)

too me, this thing is as silent as silent gets. The only noise that is bothersome is when the CD_ROM spins up, but that usually doesnt last very long.

The CD_ROM can be noisy. What is unusual is that the DVD-ROM function is quiet.
