I'm not all that familiar with the 510m, but I'd say the i6000 would be the better choice due to the newer processor that's available with it and the fact you can get a dedicated graphics card on the i6000. The prices seem to be very similar, and the 510m is getting kind of old now. However, if you want a more portable and easy to carry around notebook then go with the 14" screen 510m...the i6000 is often bigger than most people imagine if they haven't seen it.

The i510m is much more portable than the i6000 and the Latitude D810, but has an integrated gpu. If you want to go that way (more portable) but also want a dedicated gpu, you could also consider the Latitude D610. The D810 and the i6000 are wide-screen; the i510m and the D610 are not. The D610 has a 14.1" screen, and the i510m also has that as an option, which would improve portability further over the i6000/D810 and the 15' screen version of the i510m. If you are mostly working in one place, with little carrying between places, then you would more likely optimize screen size and forget about weight; then you can just concern yourself with the i6000, the D810 and even the i9300.
