    Hello,

can somebody tell me if it is really worth to choose the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) lcd instead of the basic XGA with true life lcd ?

    thank you :)

I would vote against it because it will be really hard for you to read the small fonts and it would strain your eyes

I second the motion, but a ton of people here will disagree. It's really going to depend on your eyes. I can't using anything finer than 1200x800, but that's just me. Others here refuse to use anything less than 1600x1050.

    EDIT:

Almost forgot, you also may want to reconsider the truelife option. That's a glossy screen, so if you use it anywhere other than dim lighting you could have a real glare problem. Once again, my eyes can't handle the glare so I have to go with a matte screen, but others here love their glare. I reccomend going to a store and seeing what you can handle.

If your eyes can handle the 1600x1050 and glossy then go for it because you'll have more work area and colors will have more "pop."

i have the regular xga with true-life and i like it a lot, i think that the sxga would be too small

as for your question robby21, truelife is just dell's fancy way of saying glossy screen

you have to go look at them in person and make your decision

i personally feel like (w)xga is a complete waste. higher res screens are much clearer, sharper, and you have more space for work.

but that's just me. your best bet is to go compare screens in person because the choice is totally personal to you.

I have the 1680 x 1050 screen....I LOVE IT! I do not have a problem with the font size...actually decent. Before I ordered with this screen....I visited the Dell Kiosk at the mall...saw the 1505 with the other screen. Knew I made the right decision with this one. I also have a 1680 x 1050 resolution screen on my desktop. The fonts are not that small. The quality of the picture on this screen (Dell) is great.
