Like clockwork, as soon as the one year warranty expired on my e1505, the battery gave me a fatal error notice as soon as the second hand fell. Unfortunately, the battery costs $150 and if you dont order from the dell website, its probably not even a new battery. Anyhow, i have a bit of electronic/mechanical inclination, is it impossible to open the battery up and replace the cells inside with ones i can get from parts express or radioshack for $30?
If anyone has done this or tried, could you please give me your input as I dont want to drop $150 on an outdated notebook with a failing harddrive.
Edit: Im looking at this battery and it doesnt even have any screws or places to pry from, frankly, i dont know how to get this thing opened up!

You could read through this. It seems to have some good info.

Wow, thats some pretty detailed info there, what might make it easier, is that i know the mah the type of cells the amperage, and the voltage. After mindlessly prying away with screw drivers and whatnot, it finally came undone and there sat 9 lit-ion batteries that might simply need to get replaced. I dunno about the electronics board/timebomb that accompanied it, but hopefully matching up 9 identical cells to the old circuits will work. Ill keep posted.
