are these temperature normal? it seems like my laptop is getting hotter and hotter by the month.... i've complained about this before but i was told that it was normal....

the memory and chipset peak temperature at 64 degree Celsius is the highest i've ever seen it. i think at that point, i had EVE opened along with dc++, firefox, aim/msn messenger and vent. im not sure how graphic intensive EVE is but my temperature normally automatically goes to the 60 degree range and stays there despite both fan running on high.

i also noticed that the paint metal flap that covers the video card on the bottom of the laptop started peeling due to the heat.

Seems average enough considering all the things you have open. You seem to have a high load on the cpu with all of those things working at the same time. When I don't undervolt my laptotp I get about the same temps. Try a notebook cooler like antec or targus. This may also help.

Can you tell us where you live and what the ambient temperature and humidity is?

You can also try cleaning the vents with a can of compressed air. If dust goes into the Vent it will cause heat to build up

Clean the vents. Most of the time compressed air will do fine. If you let it go too long, you may have to open up the computer and pull out the heat sinks to get them completly clean. I have had to open mine up twice because compressed air just wasn't cutting it. But as long as I hit it with compressed air every other week, I normally don't have a problem. I run 3 EVE clients simulateously 1 I.E. window and TS and normally stay below the 60 degree mark.

Sorry if this is sorta off topic, I had my 2 year old 9300 with 6800 go and 1.7ghz M shut down last night while watching a movie which it never restarted from. Today I borrowed a new power supply and I get the same thing, lights geen on the PS until I plug it into the laptop then it goes out until I unplug it from the laptop and wall, then replug into wall only.

Now that I have it apart(first time disassembling a laptop but it all makes sense) I can see the fans are completely clogged with dust. This makes sense as it seemed like my fans were kicking on earlier and earlier when I played games. The games seemed to lag more too. I kinda suspected it was the dust but when I looked I couldn't actually see the dust so I assumed it was my windows install getting laggy.

So now, any input on what I can do? Can I use a continuity checker or parts from a friends 9300(broken screen--sale cheap) with std graphics card and 1.8ghz M for trouble shooting? :(
