The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Some apps will use them, some will not. WMP, Quicktime, and WinAmp use them, but VLC doesn't. However, it's not something you can enable, as the application must be written to look for and use those buttons.

There's also plug-ins all over the net that will allow you to pretty much use them with any program you want. Just have to search google.

Some other application like Jet audio work with it. Jet audio is the best in sound quality.
