To be honest I don't really see the point in the overall price/performance ratio scheme of things to get an LED screen at the moment and I believe Dell's CCFL regular screens on their XPS models especially are very good.If you wait a little longer the M1530 should get the LED backlit display accompanied by higher resolutions. e.g. 1440x900, 1680x1050 and 1900x1200. If you ring up and order an M1530 they will offer the option to buy the notebook with a higher resolution screen but CCFL.

I was orginally plomping for the Sony Vaio FZ Series (21E) problem was it had a ton of bloatware, no bluetooth, only 1200x800 resolution as standard on more or less all of them, you don't get the Vista disc with it, crappy graphics card (8400 series or Intel integrated accross the board bar 8600GS). They are far more overpriced than their counterparts with equivalent specs. The plus points were that it was super thin, looked beautiful and the screen was great.

Eventually I ordered the a M1530; I'm not to bothered about the LED display but I ordered the 1440x900, its just as thin, has bluetooth, looks great, fingerprint scanner included as a nice little bonus, better CPU (T7500), more RAM (2GB), better hardrive(7200rpm), better resolution, better graphics card (8600m GT) and has a remote all for ONLY £53 pounds more than the Sony. Plus it looks super sexy in Red.

So in conclusion I would go for Dell.

I really wanted to go for Sony but all logic pointed towards Dell. Just waiting for mine to arrive should be here by the 9/1/2008.

you do understand that "high-resolution" and "led screen" have nothing to do with each other, right?

I say Dell, I use to be a supporter and user of the Sony Vaio's and still have one.
Down side you think Dell supports sucks at time's just you try Sony's surpport and the over all cost I think Dell spec for spec is cheaper and more robust... go for Hell as in Dell ;)

Some what true. but the Toshiba notebook I bought earlier this year has been horror. I've been without my Toshiba for more then 3 months now. This time I am not going to call and ask them about my notebook. Finding the Bios password or replacing motherboard shouldn't take 2 1/2 months in any cases. First replacement took me 2 1/2 month, with me calling every week to check status on it. I am intrested to see how long it will take if I don't call asking for my notebook. And Sony? Forget about it I got the same broken notebook back 3 times before they sent in refurbished one and crapped on me after couple of months of use and to just to die on me after warrenty expires. Never been pissed after spending $1500+ on it. Maybe sony did improved after several years? Who knows.

I own a Sony and a Dell. I love the Sony's design and usability. It's only when repair is required that I start asking myself why the hell did I get the Sony. It's costly to get one and then it's even more costly to get it fixed. So if you're not looking forward to paying the hefy repair cost, stay away from Sony.

It is true that the reapir cost of Vaio laptops are high. I asked a clerk at sony shop and he said that this high cost is because the spareparts of Sony, which is expensive. and I heard that the repair will take quite a long time. I haven't get a vaio, so I don't know about the truth. But the one that told me this was a Sony salesman.

This is true, sony costs a lot more to fix. But they always use very high end stuff, i find their build quality top notch on a lot. Just so damned expensive. Hence why I am getting the M1330.
