Does dell promo go in a certain pattern or just occur on random? For example, i believe this week's promo is free hard drive upgrade. Judging by the last time i saw this, next week should be free ram upgrade?...etc. I want to know this so i can have an idea when to order my laptop since i need to look for the free dvd burner upgrade since the free HD or ram doesn't benefit me. For example, this week is a free HD upgrade but its only 100 gig 5400 rpm whereas im going to get 100 gig 7200 rpm, thus wasting that promo and pay the full price.

Not sure about the pattern, but FYI last week was the free DVD burner upgrade. Good luck.

Usually most all companies go into a "Back-to-school" sale event during the late summer/early fall. I've also seen some summer events and Christmas sales as well. As far as the Dell coupons - they're pretty random from what I've seen, as the coupons (the big ones at least) come and go when Dell has influxes in their parts inventory.

I don't know how great the deal was last week since I bought my computer Wednesday night and then for the heck of it configured the same machine Thursday morning after the new coupons and deals went into effect and the laptop was like 30 bucks cheaper.

But I was also planning on getting the 100GB hard drive, which is the free upgrade this week. So it's probably a different story if you aren't getting that hard drive.

thats not too much. i mean, sure, that $30 could have been spent somewhere else, but thats not like a huge deal. i saved about $300 from that week

$300 including the coupons for the week or $300 on TOP of the coupons? I was saying that I would have saved $30 extra, so like almost $500 total. The free DVD burner upgrade only saved me like $60 bucks.
