    cannot access the Dell back to factory condition in my young daughters Inspiron 6400, Ctrl - F11 I get no response except a load bleeping, is there any other way of accessing it?

    there's a D partition I think it is called recovery.

    Reboot your computer.Directly when the system reboots hit F12 repeatedly.

    It gives you a "What do you want to boot from" choose "diagnostic's"

    After the system does the diagnostics it should give you a choice if you want to boot from System Repair.
