Have you thought about doing a clean Win 7 install?

Also check how many process you are running. They should be in the high 70s with the factory install and you can get rid of about 10-15 of them by doing a fresh Win 7 install. When you check the process check if any of them taking a lot of resources and slowing the laptop.

Do a clean install of W7. Dell add a lot of shiz at start-up; on my system it was in the region of about 35-40 additional processes at start-up. I didn't load the dell stuff on after the clean install, and i don't use mcafee or the dell dock or anything. I much prefer it also.
