hello, i just got my dell studio 1558. I love it, but whenever I start my laptop, keyboard is always lit on. I have to manually turn it off when it gets to the windows mode. Is there any setting where I can set keyboard light to be off to start with? thanks!

Also, since im asking you guys anyway, when i set my screen brightness for my battery power setting, it doesnt save, and comes back to its original brightness setting when computer restarts. I think this started happening after i turned off my UAC, but it doesnt seem to work even if i turn it back on. Any ideas? thanks alot!

    Hi whiteorgo,

I seem to remember having the same problem with my Studio 1558 when I got it; I think I solved it by opening Windows Mobility Centre (from Control Panel) and turning the keyboard brightness slider to 'off'

As for the screen brightness behaviour, I've noticed some inconsistencies too, so it could be buggy software.

    Hope this helps, Richard

Are you setting the backlit status and screen brightness in Windows? Have you tried setting both in BIOS instead?
