have ordered a dell studio 17 with a T8100, is this a centrino processor, reason i ask is have not seen laptop, only photos reviews etc. have seen some photos with the intel duo 2 core badge and some with the centrino badge. just want to check that the T8100 is a centrino. can anyone explain difference. dont want a laptop with a desktop processor in.

centrino sticker means you have Intel wireless chip vs C2D sticker meaning you got a Dell wirless module.

It's a laptop processor. They have different processors for desktop and laptops for every clock speed, so they won't give you a desktop processor in a laptop lol. Unless maybe those notebooks with quad cores, but that's something else.

To get a Centrino(2) sticker, you must have a Intel processor(which you have), Intel Chipset(again, which you have), and an Intel Wifi card(you likely do not you have this). If you dont meet all three requirments(chipset, processor, card), you get a Core 2 Duo sticker.
