i have a dell xps m1530 and am using a dell tv tuner with it.
i've managed to get all digital tv channels up and running, using windows media center (windows vista), and it works perfectly (great picture and sound from the laptop).
BUT when i plug the laptop to my tv (panasonic plasma) using hdmi, i only get video, and no audio. this is quite weird, since if i play a dvd/bluray, i can get both video and audio. also, i get the audio from the tv's speakers when navigating the menus in the media center. the sound only disappears from the tv speakers when i'm using the tv tuner (but if i change the audio output to the laptop, all sound will come through the laptop's speakers perfectly).
i cannot seem to find any settings in windows media center to play around with the sound outputs, and i've tried all the options in the laptop's control panel.
does anyone have any bright ideas?
thanks...

dont know about the sound problem but how hard was it to set up ??

very very easy to set up (other than the sound issue!) - just plug it in, it seeks the channels and then it's good to go. the dell tv tuner is quite bulky though - i was expecting a usb stick, and instead it's a big box, with another little bit for the remote's ir receiver. so not pretty, but works well.

anyone have any suggestions?

i've just been told by dell that the tv tuner that came with the laptop does not support hdmi - which explains why there's no audio (although oddly, i get perfect video).
what they couldn't explain was that, even when i record a tv show to the hard drive, and then am no longer using the tv tuner itself, there's still no audio!
can anyone explain this to me?
do other non-dell tv tuners support hdmi? i would've thought that they all would (since they are digital tv tuners, not analogue!)...
dell tv tuner - no audio with hdmi
