    what's dell's policy on upgrading hardware for warranty covered computers? will it void my warranty?

    Well the RAM and HDD are the 2 things that according to Dell's warranty are user replacable.

    If you replace either of those, your warranty is still good, it just will not cover the RAM or HDD (new) if they go bad.

    Any other upgrades will void the warranty. I am not sure cd-drives are covered for replacement.
