whats the optimal length for a typical warranty? i just realized that i selected a 1 year warranty and dell has sent me a option to upgrade my warrenty though 2010 with a $75 rebate.
will i be able to upgrade the warrenty 6 months later and just buy the warrenty on a year to year basis?

you can buy it later, but they usually charge a lot more.
-
hmm how much more expensive are we talking about?
dell offer to give me a warranty till july 2010 for $255 -
Dell usually sends stuff out like that - I'd only do if they're offering a discount of some kind, otherwise, I'd just upgrade to maybe a 2-3 year warranty plan. I highly doubt you'll want to spend the money for a 4 year plan unless you're getting a good deal/have cash to burn.

how often do they usually send these out? the deal currently being offered to me expires on september 9th.
i finally managed to see the prices on the warranty extension page. (**** site keep giving me a invalid service code/zip code error) the warranties they have are expensive, something like $178 a year expensive.
will dell send me more offers/deals to extend my warranty? i think having a 4 year warranty is a little bit excessive, but a 2-3 year warranty seems reasonable to me. -
on the topic of warranty, what do I do if I'm ordering the laptop in asia but want to take it to the states a year later. The 3 year warranty gives coverage only for the "asia pacfic region". I'm forced to take 1 year..and pay loads later of extended warranty in the states. any way around this?
dell warrenty?
