i have a dell m1210 with a T200 and 2GB ram 7400 Go card a webcam .Issue i'm having is this laptop runs hot when i'm just browsing the net and doing nothing intensive.I have tried everything i know in the book ,tried opening it up and blowing out the dust around the fan and everything to no avail.
I have been through 3 of them with Dell with the same issues so i decided to writ here and see if anyone would be able to help me out
I was looking at the m1330 but the heating issue is driving me away from dell right now so if anyone's been able to do something to stop their laptop from overheating just browsing the web and some light activity, please do let me know what you did to combat this
    thank you

I have a M1210, it does run a little warm but nothing out of the ordinary for a notebook of that size (especially considering the powerful CPU and the dedicated GPU). Have you done anything to force the CPU always run at full speed ? Check your power options. I am using Vista with "Power saver" power plan, which will make the CPU run at low clock speeds when not needed. With light load (internet browsing, word processing etc.) it stays around 50C.

replacing thermal paste between CPU/GPU and heat sink might be help.

I've got the m1210 and m1330. The m1210 does run a little hotter than the m1330, however well within acceptable limits.

I had to have my m1210 repaired because it overheated so much that it fried the motherboard. The technician I hired to do it says that due to what he has seen with the m1210--both in forums and in person--he expects it will fry again within another year.

I understand that you can keep it from running as hot if you don't do much with it, but what is the point of buying a high-powered machine and then not using its power?

Is there any other way people know of to help cool these things off so they won't fry themselves? Mods, or anything else at all?
