Is it normal that dell.ca would have fewer choices of screens than dell.com? I'm looking at the studio 15, and dell.com lists Hi Resolution/Bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900) as a choice, which is what I want, but dell.ca doesn't. When I view the system specs though, that choice is listed as on option. Do they really give Canadians only a choice between Bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1280x800) and Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch display (1920x1200)?

Easiest way to find out is to phone dell canada and ask them about it. I bet that screen size is an option and they just don't have it up on the website(they often do that with processors - just offering 1 or 2 choices even if there are 4 or 5).

Yes, I've noticed that it's pretty common. And, it somehow doesn't seem fair.

Dell product availability, pricing, and coupon discounts...should be the same for everyone, all around. ;)

    Cin ;) :)

"I am sorry we don't have option in Canada." Guess I won't be getting a Dell.

I just called to ask for the outlet deals, and I `ve been told that they are not allowed to ship to Canada. This is ridiculous, I was looking at E6500 but can`t justify the price at this time. You can find E6500 in the outlet for half the price.

    getting screwed...

Hey loftyDan, maybe you should ring back and ask why the screen size option you want - and that they say isn't available - is specifically mentioned in the tech specs for the Studio 15 on the dell.ca site. And I'm pretty sure that the 1440X900 screen HAS been offered before in Canada - any Canucks out there with that screen res on the Studio 15?

ps if only the Dell Canada suits thought like you Cin - they'd sell a lot more computers :)

I agree; you should call Dell Canada on it. I was ordering an E6400 and had noticed that on the US site, there is a Bluetooth 410 with ultra wide band as a $30 option. There is no such option on the Canadian site. When I called to haggle on price, I asked the rep. about the 410 and he said it's not offered in Canada. I printed off the spec sheet for E6400 (from the Canadian site) and showed him that it's listed in the spec sheet.

After "checking internally", he called back and said it was available after all. I even got him to waive the $30 charge for the upgrade. Calling and pestering (even though it's so annoying and time consuming) IS worth it, IMHO....

All you have to do is to call a sales rep over the phone with the configuration you want. Heck, you can build the system you want from the dell site and save it and email it to the Canadian Rep when he contacts you.

Just tell him you want the system with those options.
FYI: Canadian customers get their Dell computers from the plant in the US!!!!! They are not only assembled in the US, they are delivered to the Canadian customers directly from the US.

    Hope this info helps.

    Cheers!

Well, for what it's worth I did call dell today, and they claim the 1440x900 WLED has been having a lot of problems and as such they can't sell it in Canada. They then proceeded to push the system without it regardless, and eventually sought out a support rep who said no, they cannot offer me that. They then tried to sell me a setup $83 more than the same system online, and with 1 year less warranty.

    A total loss all around.
