    after a year of use, my e1505 is quickly deteriorating. For example, when typing, the media buttons would activate for no good reason, and stop my music. This is getting really annoying, and i was wondering if there was an option to disable these media buttons, because i would much rather not have media buttons than have malfunctioning media buttons.

    thanks for any suggestions

    you might be able to disable them by turning off Dell quickset. Most newer systems require Quickset in order for the media buttons to function properly, but it depends on when you bought your system. I know media buttons started requiring quickset with at least CD2 if not before.

    yup, only a one year warranty. over the year, the screen cracked a little, speakers stopped working, media buttons getting funky, and screen gets wobbly -.-"

    the only thing going for this machine is that it still works as fast, if not faster, than the day that it arrived at my doorstep.

    I dont have quickset installed, and my media buttons worked fine before, and installing it didnt help either. Would i be able to do something in the BIOS?

    Try this:
    ctrl-alt-delete (should bring up the task manager)
    go to the "Processes" tab
    click on "dadapp.exe" to select it
    click the "End process" button

    Did that disable the media buttons?
    If so, you can make the change permanent by doing this:
    Start -> Run
    Type "msconfig"
    Go to the last tab (processes, I think?)
    Disable (uncheck) the one called "dadapp".
    Reboot.

    thanks, but i dont even have a dadapp.exe in my processes. I really hate how the problems just keep coming up after my warranty is over -.-"
