My media button panel is really wierd/loose on my xps m1530, if i call dell will they ship me a replacement to just install myself(it's really easy to install it) Also, the silver things along the side of it are kind of loose/messed up as well, do they replace those too?

You need to call Dell Spare Parts at the following number: 1-800-357-3355 (US)

    Good Luck!

Not sure why he would call Dell Spare Parts. The M1530 has been available for less than a year it should still be under warranty.

To the OP, Call Dell tech support first. They will tell you what you`re options are.

I'm pretty sure they do not send out replacements because they need the old one back. just call them up and they will send a service guy to your house and he will replace it, then take the old one with him. I had this done when they replaced the lid on my m1330, no matter what they said they insisted that they would send someone off to do it.

Does Dell send out techs on site if you don`t have the NBD onsite warranty?

I has my Media Button Panel and the 2 Silver things on the sides replaced, a techie came out with the parts installed them and took the old ones away. this was all covered under the NBD warranty.

I thought he had cosmetic damage or something to the panel, which wouldn't be covered by Dell's warranty...hence spare parts.

Mine came with a dent in the media controls and a small keyboard lump...I'm having them come out to fix both next week. I decided to stay with the Samsung screen pending further complaining. :)

Good for you! I am glad that you are liking the Samsung screen and I hope everything works out for you. By the way, not to scare you or anything, but before your tech touches your computer, make sure that he has worked on the m1530 before. Generally these guys can inflict more cosmetic damage to the system. I have pics of my older Inspiron 4000 which is proof of this.

this is exactly why Dell has landed in a hot soup with me. The techie who came broke of a part on the mother board. 45days xps 1530. They sent me a total new replacement which when unpacked had scratches on the touch button panel. right now i am in the midst of firing them for letting me down the second time. I am not allowing them again offer to replace the touch button panel etc. And by the way once u touch that panel..the hinge covers become loose..

Its certainly is a case of bad design in terms of the locking system. I have 2 xps 1530 sitting in my room. One is the original purchase , the other is the replacement. I dont know wat they plan to do. Haven offered me anything other than replacing parts etc. Its being discussed i presume.

I dont know if i should seek some sort of compensation. Actually I have not described the case properly so it may seem like a small issue. I am waiting for their response to my 19 page letter. If not favourable and satisfying i m gonna go public about it.
