What do you want the notebook for? If you're going to game, the x300 isn't too hot. If you're not going to game, that's a nice set-up. The i6000 isn't known for great build quality, though. -

just need office productivity stuff .. word .. firefox .. email .. sometimes, a bit of web page and image editing ..
the x300 is by who? ..
I sort of like the look of the silver dell ..
are there any other suggestions, with a similar price range/configuration? ..

oh yeah .. and for an extra hundred dollars I can upgrade to a 2.0 Pentium M process .. but, thinking .. probably don't need that, right?
