When i look at my device manager, there is a section called "other devices" which showst a yellow exclimation mark for all things listed under it. My computer seems to be running fine. Is there anything I can do about this? Is the other devices option important?
    I am on a dell e1705. I reformatted about 5 days ago.
    thanks

you're missing a driver. that's what the yellow exclamation point means.

Yes i know. Do you have any clue what driver this may be and how I can correct it? I have installed all the drivers that come with the dell driver cd. I guess it is possible that I missed one but i doubt it

have you gone through SoutherGirl's reformat thread? there's a part on drivers in there. that may help.

no one knows what drivers you're missing on your computer, but you.

Yes I had Southern Girl walk me through the entire process. I guess i'll wait for her to come back online. I figured if i gave the section from the device manager "Other Devices-> Base System Device" that somebody would know what i was missing

Try reinstalling your chipset driver and the ricoh driver (located in the Chipset section). Usually most users miss the ricoh driver because they don't realize that it pertains to all Inspirons - it is the 5-in-1 card reader driver. If that doesn't work, then post back here.

I probably won't be online very much until next Saturday - I don't have internet access from Monday until then since I'm in the middle of moving.

Thanks. I had to download ricoh from dells website as it wasnt on dells driver cd. Also, is Sonic Digital Media the same type of software as Nero? if so, do i still need to download those drivers if i will be using nero?

No, you don't need to download the Sonic stuff if you are planning on using Nero. Those are just updates to sonic software.
