That is not an operating system driver; it is a firmware update that will update the controller chip onboard the optical drive.
Unless you have problems with your current DVDRW (i.e : Not detecting some disks, not burning some disk types/brands properly etc..) then no need to upgrade. If you decide to upgrade, make sure you have the exact same optical drive (HLDS: Hitachi GA10N), because if you flash it with a wrong version your drive will become unusable.
Use Nero Infotool or Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives to identify your drive model. -
seems to me that there is no DVD player because I can not install it, a shame.
Thanks for answering my friend. -
My DVD works fine for now.
For as PhoenixFx said - I don't have plains to install this firmware, until I'm 100% sure it works well and it is for my computer.
My DVD is recognized in control panel as:
Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640S
Just Little Input:
My father by the way has HP Compaq nx9420 - on HP's page they have 1000 things (+ new bios) for his notebook, but his BIOS is from 2006.Still works great without any problems.
