    e-1705 ,ram is rated as 667 mhz ,but running at 533

    ok so i have 2x1 gb of kingston ram its pc2 5300 ,and rated at 533/667 mhz
    now when i go into the bios and look at the ram it shows 2 gb and everything is fine
    but the memory says its running at 533 mhz
    is there anyway to fix this?

    that seems odd, was it running at 533 before you upgraded?

    I found this. I wouldn't worry about speed too much. They seemed to have made a mistake, but atleast it will still work :p

    I would say, look around other places to see other usesers with that Laptop. I'ver read a few other stories like yours. Either A) It was a falsly advertisez speed, and your laptop can only take 533mhz ram (but the 667mhz ram will still work, and down-clock itsself)

    Or B) You need a bios-update in order to recognize the 667mhz ram.

    Bios-updates aside, i'm sure that dell just falsly advertised ram speed in coincidence with processor fbs, and the mobo will only tak 533. Eitherway, the difference between 533 and 667 isn't much. So, i'd say, you're good for now.
