I'm waiting for this laptop to get an expected dedicated graphics option, but other than that I think it is great for the price- I am a student who will be going overseas later this year and I need a laptop not only to draft on, Cad/Inventor, but I also do digital audio work, and play high end games such as WOW. Now, until the dedicated graphics card is implemented, playing games is out of the question- but (correct me if i'm wrong) Cad, is 80-90% cpu based and not gpu based, so on this system speced above, I would think it would do great. What do you guys think?

There is a 100 dollar off 2000 or more coupon floating around you should be able to use for that.

That computer looks good. Should be good for what you are using it for.

I don't know how good of a graphics card it is going to get, due to the small size it will have cooling issues, but who knows. :p

If you want CAD, maybe a D620/D820 with an NVS Quadro would be a better choice.

I strongly doubt that anything 3D, even CAD, would be only 10% GPU-based. Otherwise nobody would sell those $3000 workstations. ;)

Save money, take off the Audigy option. It's just a software addon you can download any time. If you've ordered already, just call in, they can change it (that's what I did.)

whoa, your saying the integrated audigy is just a software addon? I was under the impression from dell that it was actually a better integrated card.

According to the numerous threads concerning this topic, yeah it's the same hardware (sigmatell 9200 chip), but with just a different sound software to emulate an audigy. In fact you can buy/download this audigy package anytime from Dell which proves it's not a change in hardware.

Of course this doesn't mean it doesn't make your notebook sound better. That's still under dispute. What it does mean, though, is that you should probably not buy the option. When you get your laptop, decide if it the sound is good enough. If it's not, THEN you should get the software package. Save yourself some money that way.

Personally I use an integrated sound for my desktop PC and it sounds great. Plus I hear the e1405/1505 has great speakers anyway, and the Audigy package will probbaly increase memory/cpu load.
