Is there a way to tell if my processor is running in dual core mode. I just installed a matching 512 MB pc2-4200 in my laptop.

Whats dual core have to do with memory? l think you mean dual channel.

And if the memory is the same size (which it looks like you have 512 x 2) then it is running in dual channel. Yours should be in dual channel and l dont think you have to check.

BTW, l think dual channel doesn't really add any extra memory bandwith compared to single channel.

You can down load this, http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
It will tell if your memory is running duel channel. And duel channel does add a good amount more memory bandwidth to your system when compared to single channel.

For pentium m, P4, and socket 939 AMD's it does yes.

    BUT

lts hard to explain, but core duo's setup l guess you could say has very little benefit from dual channel vs single channel.
