So yea I have read tons of links on how to reinstall Media Direct

I deleted all partitions on my HDD before I realized that i wont have media direct.

So i decided to reinstall it. However after it gets past 10% it fails. Here is what I did

Created a 54000 mb parition for Windows and then left the rest about 4000mb unpartitioned. Result: Fail

Created a 54000mb partition for windows and created a D: partition 4000mb. Result: Fail

Created c: as the 4kmb and D: as the remaining disk space. Result Fail

I also did all those steps for 1308mb as dell reccomends. I have the **** dell cd to reinstall Media Direct for the e1405.

SHould i install other drivers before attempting to reinstall media direct? Anyone see what im doing wrong?

Should i leave 4k mb unpartitions or partitioned. Im so confused and about to pull my hair out.

    Thank you

    it always says:

Installation stopped due to failure when copying files.
Please check your system and try again.

Try this. Create a C: or whatever partition for Windows with Windows XP reinstall disc. Leave the rest unpartitioned. Once the Windows OS is installed, create your second partition in Disk Manager. Start>Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management > Disk Management. Leave 1.5-1.6GB of unallocated space. You are using the Media Direct Reinstallation CD right? Good luck.

I paid for the 4 yr premium support and i accidentally did that too. but, they just sent me out a new imaged hard drive. u might want to just pursue that route if you're having a lot of trouble

I installed all the drivers. If 1.5GB of raw space doesn't work, try 1.6GB. I've done this successfully on 3 Dell notebooks and the reinstall disc only worked for me when I partitioned and left unallocated space in Disk Manager.
